Restaurant mêlée
Description
The name Mêlée is actually a term that comes from rugby, a sport which is known and loved in France. Mêlée’s original owners Jens Vestergaard, Helge Sidor and Dan Rauhe shared a passion for this particular sport, and Mêlée, or “scrum”, symbolises the friendship of the three restaurateurs, which evolved into a partnership at their shared bistro, Mêlée.
In 2013, Jens Vestergaard and Helge Sidor went their separate ways, with chefs Rasmus Oubæk and Rune Sauer Sonnichsen taking their place. Jens Vestergaard introduced the French style to the kitchen, with a focus on first-class ingredients and classic craftsmanship. Rasmus Oubæk and Rune Sauer Sonnichsen have embraced the style, and Mêlée serves pure, rustic and honest food, made with a love of French country cuisine.
In autumn 2015, Rune and Dan bought Rasmus Oubæk out, and Simon Ebdrup Madsen and Christian Thorsholt Jacobsen became co-owners of mêlée. This also signalled the start of a sister restaurant, Anarki, at Vodroffsvej 47, also in Frederiksberg.
In the small Restaurant Mêlée, the tables are close to one another, and you are always welcomed by busy but competent waiters who know the menu and wines, and are on first name terms with many of the guests, local or not!
