ROYAL COPENHAGEN

With a history of more than 240 years, Royal Copenhagen now has a strong position as a truly international brand from Denmark.

The royal porcelain is manufactured by the best craft traditions, where every piece of porcelain is continually being hand painted.

Royal Copenhagen is especially associated with the classic blue and white design fluted with floral motifs, originally inspired by the ancient Chinese porcelain tradition. But Royal Copenhagen constantly reinterprets its designs, always with a great respect for the classic design, but also always with new innovations.

Each piece Royal Copenhagen has always – since 1775 when the name was “The Royal Porcelain Factory” – been stamped with its unique factory mark: the three hand-painted waves that symbolise Denmark’s waterways, the ‘Oresund’ or Sound, the Great Belt and the Little Belt.

With a history that spans more than 100 years, the Georg Jensen brand represents quality craftsmanship and timeless aesthetic design, producing lifestyle products ranging from hollowware to watches, jewellery and home products.

The philosophy of Georg Jensen himself was to create democratic designs possessing both functionality and beauty. His artisanal skill and artistic talent combined with his continuous ability to identify and support design talent was the foundation on which he built Georg Jensen in Copenhagen in 1904.

Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen, two young Danish engineers, founded Bang & Olufsen in 1925, in the small town of Struer in the northwestern part of Denmark. Ever since then we have been working on creating synergy between design, sound and engineering, meanwhile creating an internationally recognised quality brand.

One thing is seeing and hearing, another thing is touching and feeling. Interacting with our products is a multi-sensory experience, and each element is carefully chosen. One doesn’t have priority over the other; they’re of equal importance. In that regard, the tactile dimension is a very important aspect of the Bang & Olufsen design philosophy.

Constant attention to detail, in all design phases, is why and how Bang & Olufsen differentiate themselves above and beyond what else is out there. The overall design is what creates the initial attraction to a product, and dictates the shape and direction, but it is details that make you fall in love.
