21st February – Wednesday
Join the open visitation of Copenhagen University’s new round plant research center and experience a building that resembles a plant cell! Together with architect David Sherman of Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects, Poul Erik Jensen (Head of CPSC) and Kirsten Jørgensen (CPSC), you will explore the new Copenhagen Plant Science Center opened in 2017 and hear about the entire process of designing state-of-the-art frames for plant research. Lundgaard & Tranberg Architects are masters of round buildings. We know Tietgen College and Axel Towers, where the round shapes of the buildings give a soft and human expression.
Dance Club organised by Old Irish Pub & NewMoves. Join salsa night at Old Irish Pub in Frederiksberg with funky DJ Damian from Havana on the biggest pub in town with a huge dancefloor waiting for you and your dance partner. The entrance is free, for more detailed program click on the picture.
23rd February – Friday
The night church in St. Lucas Church opens the evening with a thoughtful and fabulous jazz play with Raivis Zandovskis and Daniel Lindberg. Later on The Moonfires, a new band from Copenhagen Underground will play, with Afro / Soul / Mod roots, which inspires 70’s funky names like Mandrill, Blackbirds, Jimmy Castor Bunch, The New Birth, Tribe, The Meters, The Rimshots, Black Heat, Dennis Coffey, Hide Kuti, The Esquires.For more information about the program click on the picture.
Port wine is no longer reserved for altars and grandparents, and the number of port wine bars increased among the Copenhagen niche bars. The interest in this elegant wine is growing, especially among young people. If you have not yet jumped on the trolley, it’s definitely not too late – this event will give you plenty of opportunity to find your favorite port wine variant. Missing a Friday Bar place in Frederiksberg? Well Hotel Avenue just opened one for your entertainment! Every Friday you can join for Beats & Bubbles in collaboration with Waqar Qayum. The bar is filled with bubbles, champagne, cava and special cocktails (and of course everything else that makes a devilishly good bar).
Magtens Cover is Denmark’s only cover band of Magtens Korridorer! The band consists of highly talented musicians who have played together for 5 years. Their repertoire consists of Magtens Korridorer hits, and their interpretation of the great band’s songs never disappoints! They play the fast classic and also the softer rock ballads. If you are a fan of Magtens Korridorer, to see this band is a must! In addition, Guitar Rebels also plays this evening!
24th February – Saturday
Do you feel like you should have born in the 70’s? Or do you like glitter, ice or disco? So get your skates and go to Frederiksberg Runddel, where Strøm kickstarts spring with the year’s most swinging ice skate party. Everyone is welcome to skate and if you bring your own skates, it’s completely free. If you can not fit your own anymore, skates can be rented directly to the place. There is a massive rock and powerpop party when Grand Theft takes the stage! The band’s musicians play daily with a string of professional bands and soloists in Denmark, but when they form the band together, they are bound by the desire to give the audience a fantastic party with a solid dose of rock and powerpop. The band has a lot of experience with live music, and with many concerts, so they for sure know how to hold a party! Dancing is guaranteed, when the band plays the hits of Robbie Williams, Coldplay, Kings of Leon, Pink Floyd and many others
25th February – Sunday
Ole Kock Hansen, who for many years worked with DR Big Bands as a pianist, conductor and organizer, has simultaneously led his “A Very Bigband”, and performed in clubs and jazz festivals with many different soloists, like Benjamin and Marie Carmen Couple at the Valby Jazz Festival for the last couple of years. The orchestra also performs regularly with the singer Bobo Moreno and other soloists.This Sunday you can meet Bobo Moreno as well as the orchestra’s own soloists, including the saxophonist Jens Søndergaard, who has performed many times at Bartof with smaller groups. The Coffee Collective would like to invite you to another jazz session on the following Sunday. Mikkel Ploug (guitar) and Jeppe Skovbakke (bass) are both internationally reputed musicians who have toured all over the world with Mikkel Ploug Group. Jeppe is also known for his bass playing with indie band I Got You On Tape. They’ll provide the tune, while they provide the coffee.
